The short life span of mass produced goods being disposed into landfills by consumers was a major discovery for me when writing my thesis.
I have therefore proposed a concept to try and prevent consumers from disposing their belongings. This is to encourage them to cherish their possessions through including them in the making process of their own furniture.
This scale 1:5 model represents an outdoor ceramic table that internally holds a mould to provide a consumer the availability to make a stool. Using a combination of natural waste such as sawdust or vegetation and an adhesive, the user can pack out the inside of this table, then close it and wait for their seat to set. Once ready, the mould can be opened up and the cast can be pulled out, ready to sit on.
